View Full Version : HVR-Z1P successor? Tyson Perkins December 4th, 2006, 06:16 AM Is there one planned anytime soon - as so to be in congruence with the new release of the HD200 - etc? Tyson Perkins December 4th, 2006, 02:57 PM anyone? I need to know as i am in the midst of purchasing a camera. Douglas Spotted Eagle December 4th, 2006, 03:38 PM If Sony haven't announced anything, then anyone "in the know" couldn't say anything. Therefore, not sure what you're expecting from folks. There have been rumors of a Z1 replacement for nearly a year now, and none of them have been correct. Tyson Perkins December 4th, 2006, 10:44 PM Would the V1 be seen as an 'upgrade' to it? Douglas Spotted Eagle December 4th, 2006, 11:20 PM Would the V1 be seen as an 'upgrade' to it? No. Sony have been very explicit that the V1 is *not* a replacement for the Z1. Tyson Perkins December 5th, 2006, 04:56 AM But it improves on it in so many ways - so is just a higher model? Douglas Spotted Eagle December 5th, 2006, 08:29 AM No, it's not a higher model. It's a *different* model. Just like the HC3, the FX1, the A1, the HC1, and the FX7. Just different. Not higher, and in many ways, lesser. Gary Mckinstry December 5th, 2006, 02:58 PM Totally agree with DSE. The V1 is not an upgrade and is certainly not a replacement or a better model than the Z1. They are different cameras. Gary Tyson Perkins December 5th, 2006, 03:24 PM Well what would you recommend me to purchase? as indie filmmaker? Alan James December 5th, 2006, 03:30 PM A Sony HDC-F950 or a Panavision Genesis??? Maybe??? LOL Gene Crucean December 5th, 2006, 05:46 PM Well what would you recommend me to purchase? as indie filmmaker? I'd get an HVX200, but if I didn't have the money for one (or a few) and it's workflow I would probably opt for either a Z1 or A1. You'll be happy with any one of those... unless you have a specific need, like over/under cranking. $0.02 Chris Hocking December 6th, 2006, 06:29 AM What's wrong with the Z1? Any reason why the Z1 wouldn't work with your productions? It's a fantastic camera. If you have the cash, a HVX200 would be my next suggestion - but it is a lot extra once you figure everything in... |
