Jaadgy Akanni December 20th, 2006, 09:05 PM I'm about to get the HD200, but according to what I read, Version 2.1 supports QuickTime HDV 720 24p and 25p recordings only on the HD100/110 series. So, what does that mean in relation to the HD200/250 series? Will we have to wait another eternity for HD200/250 support?
Steve Benner December 20th, 2006, 09:10 PM I am not sure, but from what I gather, there is slightly different encoding on the 200/250 series which could be the reason.
Tim Dashwood December 20th, 2006, 09:21 PM Thank you Steve. This is welcome news. I'll make this a sticky.
BTW, I would imagine that 720P24 and 720P25 are identical across all models of ProHD cameras. I believe the 12 GOP format only applies to 50P and 60P recordings, but 720P24,25,30 are still 6 GOP in the HD200 & HD250.

I heard that there was different Bit of some spec...can't remember where, I will try to find it.
Hayk Paul December 21st, 2006, 12:46 AM I've been waiting for this for a long long long time, please someone test it out asap and post post post, to make sure this thing works like its supposed to. Fingers crossed. Thanks.

Steve Benner December 21st, 2006, 05:41 AM I just tested the official 2.1 version this morning and I have been Beta Testing it for a few weeks...It works!
Steve Benner December 21st, 2006, 01:05 PM The HD200/250 is NOT supported yet for .MOV.
Hayk Paul December 22nd, 2006, 03:35 AM I forget: how many hours of hdv will you get with a 40gig drive and how many hours for sd?
Steve Benner December 22nd, 2006, 05:50 AM 4 - Hd, 3 - Sd

Apparently there is "an issue" with the HD200/250 and this firmware.
Gary Williams December 22nd, 2006, 11:06 AM Is the only difference between the DR HD100 and the FS-4Pro HD the ability to see information in the viewfinder of the HD100 from the DR HD100

As I understand it, with the FS-4Pro HD you still have to capture and convert your files before importing them into FCP (if you're a FCP user).
With the DR HD100, as quoted from their site: you are "ready to edit. No capturing, no file transfer, no file conversion. Just shoot and edit."

I believe there is a Quicktime patch for the FS-4Pro HD, but only for 30P. I imagine the 24P will be released soon.
EDIT: The Quicktime Patch may only be for the DR-HD100, I am looking into it.

This would be great if 24P was supported. That would make the deal for me!

As long as it is the "Pro" FS-4 HD, then you are fine with the Quicktime 30P. The 24P was just released for the DR-HD100, so I imgine the 24P is right around the corner. I will find out for you.

What about the other stuff I listed like what you see in the view finder is there other differences besides what your checking out?

The DR-HD100 has the following advantages over the FS-4:
1. Status in the viewfinder/LCD monitor - you can see in the viewfinder how many minutes are available on the drive, and you can see what mode it is in. This assures you that the drive is getting a good signal, and that it is rolling when it's supposed to.
2. Power Management - when you turn the camera off, the drive will shut off as well
3. Split Record - allows you to program the camera so that one start button will roll only the tape, and another start button will roll only the drive.
Some nice features that are worth the small difference in price.

HDV 720p24 (MOV) support is for the DR-HD100 (JVC version of the FS-4Pro HD) only.
Matt
If you are a FCP user, then the DR-HD100 is a MUST!

Does this mean that there will NOT be a 24P Quicktime capability added to the FS-4Pro?

There WILL NOT be 24P .MOV support for any model but the DR-HD100.
James Orry January 29th, 2007, 09:51 AM Is there any news on mov support for the HD200/1? We got our GY-HD201 last week and converting the m2t file so it can be imported into FCP is a bit of a hassle.
Thanks.

This is good because every maybe 10-15 clips, one would not open in Quicktime meaning it couldn't be seen in FCP. I imagine this is the fix for that problem.
Ben Chace March 9th, 2007, 10:37 AM If you already purchased the Mov wrapper... do you have to pay again for this firmware upgrade? I just browsed the focus website and couldn't find the the download..
