Hey all,

This has been a dilema for me for a while. I've exhausted my my options for shooting videos at some close friends and relatives places. So now I need to find new interiors and houses to shoot in. what is the easiest way to get new locations to shoot in? Is it best to put up an ad and ask if anyone is willing to offer their house to shoot in? Or just go up to a house that looks interesting and ask them if we can film a movie here? what has worked for everyone here?

I usually just go and ask. It seems to work well most of the time. They can either say yes or no. My philosophy is, "If you don't ask, you don't get". I saw a house that was absolutely ideal for part of a scene we needed to shoot, so I went and knocked on the door. The owner was more than happy to help. He even came home from work early so we could film in decent daylight for the outdoor shots.

Look for houses and flats for rent in the local paper then ring them up and ask to use it if they say no offer them 50 bucks or somethin to use the house for the day.

If you want to get any kind of variety in a movie you can't just use houses, you need banks, post offices ,airports trainstations warehouses etc. All these places are willing to help if you just ask, get the smooth talker of the group to phone them up, we even maneged to get by the $600 fee at Edinburgh airport and did it for nothin.
