Bogen Stick 3001 - what is the empty screw hole?
I just received my 3001 legs from Ebay and notice that there are two screwholes connected to the head shaft. One is for tightening the shaft in a position either up or down (looks about Metric6 or 1/4) and the other looks about 5/8 but doesn't seem to have a purpose because there is a screw that comes down blocking the passageway to the shaft - so I am not sure what it does! Anyone?

Just looked at the legs on B&H but the pic is too small - can you post a pic of the area you're referring to?

I have a Bogen 3046 tripod with 501 head, and it has a "storage" hole for the 3/8"/16 screw from the quick-release plate - the hole is located on the "spider", next to where the crank-up column goes thru the spider. I bought a plastic-headed "thumb bolt" and plan to build an articulated support for a Delvcam 5" LCD monitor that will mount to the tripod.

If you can post a pic, it would help clarify exactly what area you're talking about... Steve

Yep, that's what it looks like. Bogen sells a strap with a screw on one end which fits that hole.
