Hopefully someone can answer this question. I have someone doing some VFX work for me in Shake. As he is unable to digitize the footage from my DV tape. (I'm assuming he does not have a DV camera) he said he would like me to do the following:

"Hey Eric,

Actually I have no way to digitize a DV tape so it would be better if you can just give me the Quicktime file captured from FCP. Just make sure not to re-compress it when exporting from FCP, I need the raw DV file captured to FCP if you don't do the image sequence route."

Can anyone let me know how to export Quicktime from FCE without re-compressing it? I'm very new to Final Cut and would appreciate any help here.
Thanks.

Eric,

Just capture the footage and then go to the capture scratch and send him those files.

If he is looking for an edited sequnce out of the FCP timeline, you just export with the same settings your timeline uses. File>Export>QuickTime Movie. Make the movie self contained and from the Markers dropdown choose All Markers. This will yield an un-recompressed movie. Of course the DV codec is already highly compressed, but you will not be re-compressing it.

DO NOT choose "Using QuickTime Conversion".
