Does anyone know of a decent Firewire hub that is rackmountable. How about USB? And even, heaven forbid, Firewire 800? I'm not savvy enough to build my own out of couplers and such. I've seen this one:

Any other ideas folks? Thanks a bunch.

maybe a FW800 and 400 PCI card would do, and it'll be much cheaper?

Nay to the PCI option. I've only got one slot left in the Mac Pro and that's reserved for a SATA II card. I really have 2 goals here. a) To be able to have a client come in with any number of drives and conveniently plug right in. b) To clean up clutter and make it easier to localize any connection issues. I'm tired of crawling through cables under my desk to add a new drive.

Some have suggested for FW800, just daisy chain the drives, which I've been doing. But this adds some extra clutter of "what is connected to what?", and an even bigger issue is when one drive gets powered down by accident, un-mounting files that need to stay put! I was thinking of customizing a rack to this:

And hey folks, what does it take not to be a tourist round these parts?

This is expensive, but pretty cool.
