Dear A1/G1 owners,
I have a simple question about the microphone mount:
How is it fixed to the handle? Scews? Is it detachable?

Thanks,

Martin

The 2 small screws on the right side of the body.

Yes, detachable.

I took mine off.

It is not a "shock" mic mount. It's just a mic mount.

(If it was a shock mount, it wouldn't break off so easily... but it can and will break off if you're not careful).

I took mine off first thing. Be sure to use a good quality precision screwdriver that fits the heads. Those little screws are in there pretty tight and you dont want to strip the heads.

BAD design !!

they should have used a screw that would have made it easy to swap off/on according to need (not something that requires a jeweler to remove.)

This is beyond not constructing it so that its a true shock mount

As it is, it would be better to have a second or third cold shoe (for a mic, light, wireless)

I took off mine and I second that those screws are SUPER tight. I suggest a really good carbon tipped screwdriver. Not one of those cheap jeweler kits.

I suggest that once you take the mount off, put the screws back in those holes and cinch 'em down (not too tight though). This way you won't lose the screws, and you'll keep dirt and dust out of the holes.
