I have a project that the audio is fine when viewed on our monitors but when the piece was presented the dialog was out of sync with the video. They ran a long cable to the projector. My audio was in 16bit. Would this be an issue with the long cable? Any ideas?

How are you playing back your project? I notice a sync offset when I play a project on an external (NTSC) monitor from my NLE (Premiere Pro) compared to playback on my PC screen, where I see no sync error.
