It must be a stupid question but I have Pan & Zoom in AVID Xpress HD, but cannot find it on Edius....

Basically I want to use a photo and make a small zoom on it for some "insert" in my video, the Avid Pan & Zoom is for that in Avid, but what about Edius ?

Use 3d picture in picture under the keyers in the effect palette.
Drag this to your clip on the timeline.
To keyframe and fine tune pans(position), zooms(scale) click on the white bottom half of your clip on the timeline to show the applied effect on the information palette.

But don't expect this to work like the Avid pan and zoom which retains sharpness as you zoom in. As you zoom in with the 3dpip filter the image will go soft.

Even if you drop in a large res pic EDIUS will drop the res down to the timeline res to fit it in hence then zooming in on part of the pic will make it soft.

Best to make the graphic up in a Photoshop 16.9 template and then use that. Any changes you do in Photoshop will appear in the EDIUS timeline as well.

Works for me anyhow.

Right click the clip on the timeline, scroll to the very bottom of the menu and select Layout. ALT-L is the keyboard shortcut.

Here is a better way.
Hit f7, for the layout tool and zoom/move the pic then add a key filter to move it around the place if needed.

Thank you guys for your reply. I tried Imaginate 2.0 (very very quickly) but could not export in HD only in DV format... Is this a limitation of the Demo version ?

To get your clip out in HD
In project settings in Imaginate set to 16.9 set up your zooming panning etc. and then in the “Save Project As” save the project. You can then open it in Edius, drop on your timeline and presto.
