Need a camera mount mic. My Canon A1 has the useless molded mic holder like most other cameras.
I need the hotshoe to mount my videolight so it doesn't appear that I can use the videomic

Question Is: How much handling, body noise does the NTG series pick up? It seems more suited to boom pole mounting with a shockmount than on- camera mounting.
anyone have any experience with this?

thx

I use the NTG-1. It's pretty hot, but the rubber band shockmount works pretty well to eliminate "touch noise". I use the shoe mount but they make one to adapt to clamps:

I notice the SM-5 has 2 sizes of threads for pole & tripod mounting too if you ever need it.

ok, it looks like the barrel inserts into the plastic mic clamp on the camera, keeping the hot shoe free? It says for sony and panasonic cameras but I would imagine it would fit my Canon as well.
Thx for the response

Please take a look at The J-Rod. It is a solution that many people have found works great. In addition it gives you the option of having 3 mounts to keep a radio receiver, mic, and a light onboard. See the link below !
