I fear the answer is no... but... Are there any small HDV cameras that can be used as a deck for the HD100 yet? I'm going to buy a compact HDV cam for personal use sometime soon, and would prefer to get one that could work with my HD100 in that capacity.

Thanks!

Not for 24P HDV. The HD1 and HD10 would likely work with 720P30 material. It is "possible" either of those cameras would be able to ingest 720P24, but I don't know for sure.

Your other option is the CU-VH1 deck, which works perfectly with 720P30, and can be used as a feeder for 720P24.

The ideal deck is of course the BR-HD50, which supports all ProHD modes.

It almost seems like JVC is intentionally not putting out a small hdv cam so that users are forced to buy their hd50 deck. I'm sure it's a great deck, but for small companies it would really be nice to have a more cost effective option. I hope they come out with something this summer.

Interesting point, but I think most pro-users/studios that use it are not going to buy a cheap camera to use as a deck anyway, instead opting for the proper deck.

I'm more thinking they won't put out a 720 24p handycam since the market is pretty much going 1080 now. Those of us for whom it isn't worth buying a deck are probably screwed.
