I've just finished shooting a long format program using two cameras, one of which was recording to an FS-4Pro HD. I want to bring the clips into FCP and use multiclp editing but the FS4, due to FAT32 limitations, breaks the video into >2gb clips resulting in numerous clips on the FS4. I've imported them and placed them on a timeline and they play seamlessly (no dropped frames or audio). My question is: How can I turn these clips into one clip and then use it in multiclip mode. I've used a flash to establish a sync point but can these multiple clips be turned into one clip for the edit?
Does this make sense??!?
Thanks

As you have brought the clips into a sequence, highlight the sequence in the browser and click File/Export/Quicktime movie. Save the sequence as just a reference movie (uncheck 'make movie self contained'). Then import this small quicktime file back into FCP, it is then treated as a normal movie file where you can select with others to start a multi clip sequence.

Thanks. I'm running through that now but the QT write is going to take about 22 minutes on a 25 minute clip. This totally defeats the purpose of 'tapeless' acquisition as I am not saving any time by not having to digitize the files.
I shot a ballet with two cameras and wanted to edit each act in a multiclip sequence. The acts are only about 24-25 minutes each but now it seems that tape would have been just as good in this sense.

Are you trying to save as a reference quicktime file? The end file size should be tiny as no re-encoding takes place.

I did uncheck make movie self contained. Process is now about 2 minutes from completion. I will go back and perform it again, making sure.

Have a look at the file size it should be only a few meg.

I have double checked that the Make Movie Self Contained us unchecked and QT still wants to re-compress the files. 24 minutes. Whether I choose the sequence from the browser or choose the clips in the timeline and export to QT, resulting processing times are the same.
I must not be seeing something here.

Is the timeline grey are green.
or
Try just within qucktime, copy paste each clip, save as reference.
