i have a powerbook and for a while now have had connection problems with my camera. when i plug the camera in to import through the viewfinder it says dv in. lately the dv in has been flashing and the computer won't import my footage. is this a camera related problem or is it my computer?

Do you have the camera in playback mode? Try powering the camera up before you boot and vice versa. The manual cautions against turning the cameras power off if it is still connected via FireWire. What OS and version are you using and what NLE software?

Also check your available disk space.

I have the same problem but mine is very severe. I managed to break on of the tiny pins inside the firewire port on my camera. I get the dv in message flashing on my screen more often than not but all i need to is wiggle the cable until it connects and prop it up so the cable doesn't move.

I suggest you take a look inside your firewire port and at the cable to see if any of the pins are bent.

Regards

If they (pins) are its about $250 USD to get them fixed. Treat them with care.

are you using final cut pro? you might not have enough hdd space, or your log and capture megabyte allowance settings may need adjusting. i hope it's not the broken fw pin that's causing the problems!
