A little while ago, I asked for thoughts (http://www.dvinfo.net/conf/showthread.php?t=83350) on a Nikon vs. Canon (D40 vs. XT) and thought I'd get the XT. After using the D40 in a Ritz (http://www.ritzcamera.com/product/SLR1160.htm?bct=t1134) Camera store, I decided to go with the Nikon. I might spring for the D40x, but I don't know if I need that many pixels.

I'm just a hobbyist who hasn't used an SLR in 12 years. I think the D40 is perfect and the extra $200 can go towards the 55-200mm Nikon lens.

When will I be purchasing it? Probably not for a month or so--I want to pay off some extra bills. I'll have a full report and mini-review when I buy it.
