I am currently using (or more importantly not using) a digidesign mbox2 as the audio interface with my macbook pro running final cut pro. After a short while of having it plugged in it causes the computer to hang with the spinning rainbow beachball. the only way out of this is to force a restart by holding down the power button. only hangs when mbox is plugged in, and works fine in other apps.
got the latest core audio drivers, firmware update etc.
can i ask what audio interface you use that doesnt crash fcp?
many thanks
p.s anyone want to buy an mbox2?

Vast numbers of us use a laptop.
I suspect that hardly anyone here is using the mbox 2 part of the equasion - so we're not weighing in.
You'd likely get better results by posting the m-box reference as a part of your header - or perhaps look for the Mfg website or other places where mbox users hang out.
I suspect that's not here.
Good luck.

I use a PreSonus FireBox on my MBP, so can't help much with the mbox2. And I'm only a lowly Final Cut Express (ab)user to boot. Perhaps the USB bus power is browning out.?.
When you're using FCP, do you have anything else plugged in like external hard-drives - USB and/or Firewire?
Does it happen regardless of whether you're running off batteries or mains?
Andrew.

I use an original Mbox on my MBP... works fine.
Try all of the usb ports, it might be that the usb 2.0 one could work for you...

Not officially, but it does work with 7.3... hit or miss though.
