I got this wooden Arriflex tripod (see attachments).
The tripod consists the wooden legs which looks and feels good, and a ball and head assembly.
The ball locks down (tightens) by means of tightening the housing collar.
That's different from the half bowl tripods commonly used.
The head is worthless! but I very much would like to utilize the legs!
I have a manfrotto 516 video head with a flat base.
What do you think, is it worth investing in those legs?
Actually I need to marry the flat based manfrotto to the legs.
My first thought was to make a 95mm ball with a flat base and top (that's the size of the original ball) and drill a vertical bore for the 3/8 screw.
What do you think.
Thanks
Sassi

OK, things went well.
I disassemble the old Arriflex head and worked a custom made plate with some drilling's, cost me 50$.
The tripod works flawlessly. A major leap compared to my former tripod, I would compare it to tripods with a maximum load capacity of 60 lbs and probably more.
Sassi.
