I pretty much know the answer to this now, however will ask anyway in case there is a work around. Is there a way to play DVCAM out to a 4:3 TV and letterbox it?

My reading of the manual is this is only possible with HDV, which is what I shoot now in anyway.

However for my old footage if there is a workaround, can someone please let me know?

Regards

Jeff

Two options I use:

1. Real-time software conversion with our Enosoft DV Processor. You need two DV devices hooked up at the same time. One as your source, the other to feed the letterboxed DV to your analog TV. (Note - only the fully licensed version works on a live input and output. The freebie version lets you capture to disk (while converting to letterboxed) and then you can send the letterboxed version back to the camcorder.

2. Use a DVD recorder (preferably with DV In) and record one tape per DVD. Tell the recorder that the signal is 16:9. Once recorded, you can play the DVD on a regular player and it should do the letterboxing (assuming you have told it that it is hooked up to a 4:3 TV).

Thanks for the reply, very much appreciated. I can capture DVCam to Letterbox, however was wondering if there was a way to play it live to a 4:3 TV.

Not to worry, I'll just capture HDV.
