View Full Version : Jagged edges in external monitor?

Using Firewire output to a camcorder, and then to an external monitor (TV) to preview sequences, there is a pronounced flicker, as well as jagged lines indicating a field order problem. I am at a loss, however, as to how to change this.

I'm using PPro 2.0 and all is well (more or less), until I connect my Canon HV20 via Firewire, and connect this to an older Sony TV, KV14M1B, using the composite out into the SCART connection on the TV. I'm in PAL, by the way, and the footage is 50i. The image is OK when paused, but the interlacing lines are very annoying when there is any movement. I haven't been able to test another monitor, but I would really like to get this setup working better.

Note that simple playback of tapes from the HV20 into the Sony TV works fine. Likewise, there are no preview problems using the LCD monitor on the PC.

It seems to be a Premiere problem, but I'm not sure. Is there any way to reverse the frames for the preview output? I only want to change the preview settings, because otherwise the footage is fine. I'm using a HP Pavilion 810 with a Pentium 4 and a Nvidea 6600 video card, but this shouldn't matter, right?

Thanks for any help.

I think that if you right click on the clip and select "Field Options..." you can select to reverse the Field order, or tell it to be progressive.

Hope this helps.
