View Full Version : Keyframe kerning in AE7?? Anyone?

I hate to ask this as I can usually find most of the answers to these type of questions myself....but here goes.

I want to have some text on the screen that has the font staying the same exact size but has the individual text characters moving farther apart. This seems relatively simple but I cannot find an easy way to do this. Logically I thought setting the kerning at one point in time and marking a keyframe and then changing the setting further down the timeline and marking that keyframe would do the trick.

But it appears that this is not a keyframable item in Ae7.

Pere Bauer mentioned in an older thread to use this feature but I cannot find it anywhere!(the feature, not the thread!)

Help!

Thanks in advance.

I hope this will do the trick

1.Write the text you want
2.Collapse the layer properties
3.At the right side of "TEXT" you see the "ANIMATE" with an arrow.
4.Press the arrow and you see a menu with a list of all the animateable properties.
5.Choose "TRACKING"
6.Play with it and RANGE SELECTOR for the effects you want.

Thank you! Thank you! Thank You!

I knew that After Effects was too powerful of a program to not be able to achieve this rather simple effect.

Peace!
