I have an event to shoot on July 14th at the Living Arts Centre in ON Canada (not that everyone knows it) it is a very nice venue. The event is a stage event, so different coloured lights will be involved. I believe that the white balance has to be done first then the settings can be applied. I also don't want to UP the gain I'd rather leave it at 0 because then you start to see noise. What would the setting for shutter and aperture be? What would the setting be?

I don't know what kind of camera you're using, but even if I did it would be very difficult to suggest specific settings because the lighting, scenery and costumes for live events can vary drastically. You may find that boosting the gain will be the only way to get the shot unfortunately.

Shooting with a Sony Z1 during dark stage shows I sometimes need to boost gain by as much as 12dB for example. Unless you're shooting 24p then I'd leave shutter speed at 1/60 sec. That only leaves the iris and gain settings to play with. Much of the time the iris will probably need to be wide open.

Regarding white balance, personally I think it's best to set it for incandescent (indoor) and forget about it, but this is a topic covered pretty well in the above-mentioned threads.
