Has anyone had issues encoding media with windows media encoder 9?
I have shot my footage saved it then encoded the .avi file with media encoder, played it with windows media player, ftp'd the file to the web, then it tips over?

I am speaking to my web partners but they are currently scratching their heads.

I have been using WME9 for several years now both for weekly live transmissions from my church and for encoding downloadable files (audio and video) --- never had a problem.

What do you exactly mean by "it tips over?" The only issue I heard of is that some hosting servers do not allow media files or they do not serve them correctly.

What settings have you used? Have you set your encoding project under "content distribution" to "web server/progressive download?"

I have been told that they want media encoder set to streaming. It tips over in as much as the file is recognised as being uploaded, but seems to be damaged and an error message displays, saying something like, this file might be moved or damaged!

Not my business, but they are wrong! Set it to progressive download!!!

Streaming refers to a live transmission and WME does encode the video differently for streaming.

I will implement this tomorrow, can you suggest any other settings, or even give me some screen grabs as pointers please Ervin?

I am leaving from work now, but can try tomorrow (can e-mail you an "encoder session" file .wme). What bitrate will you be using? 256, 512Kbps... lower/higher? What content? Are you preparing the footage before encoding?

The footage was being prepared before encoding, but was showing with the media player icon but was actually an .avi file, I had the bit rate set to variable but had only checked the 282kb rate, you will probably have gathered that I am fairly new to this so please forgive some of my ignorance!

I too can have a look when at work.
