I used to create the same effect by putting the old VX1000 on auto exposure and varying the shutter speed.
If it is an April's fool day, they really put a lot of effort for the prank.

Last year was also about a rumored camera. So we have to wait another day...
If it is an indication, the comments on the CVP are suspiciously off and there isnt An email address on the variDof site.
My vote is on the prank side :-)
