D-tap audio issue

We have HDX-900 cameras and when using the d-tap to power the samurai we have a small ticking sound in our audio that occurs at 1 sec intervals. This occurs when we connect a lav mic into the back inputs. The minute we remove the d-tap and go back to the atomos battery the ticking sound is gone.

Re: D-tap audio issue

Have you spoken with the Atomos after sales service folks? This is a new issue for me, first time I've heard of this. It sounds like a ground issue.

Regards,

J.

Re: D-tap audio issue

Ya we have spoken with Atomos and are waiting for a reply. We think its a dc current or ground problem as well. BUT only when a loop of continuity exists.
When we use 2 cameras in the following set up the ticking does not exist. We took power from one camera and the SDI signal from another and it works fine but if you take power and the SDI from the same camera which is NORMAL the ticking comes back.We have tried this with 4 different HDXs and 4 samuraiis with the same results.
So when you break the "loop" of power the ticking goes away, they dont like each other!

Re: D-tap audio issue

Scott... looking through old posts as I am about to buy an Atomos recorder to use with an HDX900. Was just asking asking them about this issue and they said you have to make sure that the battery selection is set to D-tap in the menu. This solves a loop back / feedback situation as you described

Apart from that, how has the HDX with the external recorder been working for you?

Thanks

David
