Lanc for Ninja Inferno?

I recently purchased a Ninja Inferno to use for natural history projects. I also have a BMD Video Assist 4K. The Ninja has Pre-roll and other features that make it preferable to the VA. However a feature I am so far missing on the Ninja but works well on the VA 4K is the ability to use a Lanc to start/stop recording. For the VA 4k I use a ProLanc and an early model Canon works also, neither work on the Ninya.

I have contacted the agent and my usual supplier but so far I have had no answers so my question is, is there a Lanc that I can use to start/stop recording in the Ninja Inferno?

Thanks

I know that Atomos supports REC TRIGGER via HDMI with some cameras. Not sure if that would help you as I don't know what camera you are using, but definitely something to look into.

Thanks

Re: Lanc for Ninja Inferno?

Thanks Jeff,

In this case I am not trying to trigger the Ninja with the camera. I want to record what the camera ' sees'. Mostly I will be using a 'C' mount GoPro with remote focus control and remote control head for pan and tilt. At the moment I am using Infrared illumination and working in darkness with the camera 2-3 metres from the ground and maybe 0.5 m from some very alert wild animals. I am watching the Ninja or BMD screen 4-5 m from the action. Under these circumstances it is much easier to start the recording with a hand held remote like the Prolanc which is very compact and as used on the BMD flash regularly making it easy to find in the dark.

I have had a reply the Australian agent who believe that this device should work: -http://www.gentles.ltd.uk/lancstudio/lancdirector.htm

It is capable of more functions than I have need for.

At the moment I am experimenting with a simple ‘finger guide’ with which I can hold my finger in place or quickly get my finger into place while I am watching my subject either ‘in the flesh’ or on the screen (photos below). I would prefer a switch on a lead but this is a useful start. It is made of aluminium and is attached to the ball head and sits about 8mm in front of the Inferno screen. I have modified the profile a number of times but this version has survived several recording sessions.http://www.dvinfo.net/forum/attachme...1&d=1527939487
