Best HD Camcorder?

I'm not sure if this is the right forum for it, but I was wondering if anyone had suggestions on which HD camcorder I should buy. I'm relaunching a webisode, and it's very important to me that we produce it in high definition. I've been looking at the Canon HV30, which features 24P cinema mode, which may come of use especially if we film spoofs for the webisode in the future. My price range is limited to $2000. If anyone can help me out, I'd really appreciate it.

Thanks!

I personally am buying the Canon HF100, but I don't know that I'd recommend it simply because I've read the AVCHD format is difficult to work with and is currently only editable on very high-end computers. Naturally it's only a matter of time before this changes, but at the moment I'm hesitant to recommend the format to others.

You'll definitely be happy with the HV30. No matter which camera you buy, though, make sure you get audio handled. Good audio will make an even bigger difference in production value than which camera you buy. I've heard good things about the JuicedLink boxes (http://www.juicedlink.com/) for getting a clean signal into these cheaper consumer camcorders, and there's plenty of information elsewhere on this forum on what boom mic equipment to buy.

Go with HV30, I don't think there is a better choice in that price range, plus with your budget you'll still be able to get some audio setup, no doubt tapeless is the future, but not just yet; 25mb/s is a big plus compare to the memory based recording.( again, in this price range)
:)

Hello,

I am proud owner of JVC GZ-HD7, and I also own Canon HV20, but I am happier with HD7, that doesn’t mean HV20 is bad. I like manual controls, focus ring, Fujinon lens and more over HDD!

Why don’t you think for it?

I have uploaded so many videos; maybe you have seen those on vimeo, if you would like to see them here is link: http://www.vimeo.com/user318721/videos
