Search for 25mbps AVCHD sample files

Hello,

I'm searching for 25mbps AVCHD sample files from any HD cam that can do that... Someone has a link ?

Thanks

Hi Robin,

Here's some:

Thanks Larry, I thought only HF20 could do that, I forgot about HF11 :)

Duane Prince January 29th, 2009 09:55 AM

which one?...

When I went to the link, I saw the same example footage I saw, when I was looking for footage of the PANA SD100, months ago... Are these examples supposed to be of the Canon??

If so, something isn't right here....

Duane,

The link I cited above is specifically for the Canon HF11.

This Japanese web site does reviews of many of the new camcorders so it does not surprise me that they also have pages devoted to Panasonic products. They may even use the same .mts capture file names for consistent reference, to allow comparisons.

ok then..

I understand what you're saying, but it's the same identical footage, as I still have those same clips on my hard drive, from way back...

maybe someone just grabbed the wrong clips, as you say...

but that footage is the same, as I downloaded months ago, & they were supposedly SD100 clips... so.... there you go....

Larry Horwitz January 30th, 2009 08:12 PM

Duane,

This doesn't make sense.

The Panasonic SD100 is only a 17 Mbit/sec camcorder whereas the Canon HF11 is 24 Mbits/sec.

Here is the link on this same site for the Panasonic SD100, written by the same author, (Kodera Nobuyoshi) who writes their weekly column:

Notice that the Panasonic only has raw .mts sample files up to 17 Mbits/sec as you would expect for this Panasonic camcorder.

AVCHD/AVC H.264 Editing

Greetings all!

I figured this would be an appropriate thread to ask these questions. Maybe answers have been posted already, and if so could you point me to them:

I'm trying to figure out what's the best tool for editing AVCHD and/or AVC h.264. I'm a Premiere Pro user, but I keep hearing that Premiere - and Windows in general aren't properly equipped to handle these formats. I've also heard that there are plugins or other tools that can add or enhance this functionality.

I've heard that Edius can handle pretty much anything you throw at it - including AVCHD/AVC h.264. I have a Powershot TX1 - cool toy, does 720/30p and records MJPEG .AVI files, which Premiere HATES, but Edius handles with ease.

I need some clarity on which is the best editing tool or plugin for editing this format. I'd like to download some footage - both AVCHD and AVC h.264 and try itout for myself. This would greatly help in determining which camera I buy in the very near future.

Thanks,
Colin

oops!...

My apologies to everybody! In checking the original examples I downloaded, they are m2t, not m2ts.... as I thought... so they are the Canon examples, rather than Pana examples....

Good form Larry, for catching my error...

Using Google translation combined with this Japanese site creates a very confusing situation and I totally understand how easy it is to have an "oooops" !

On top of this, the English translation of the author's words and thoughts is both comical and mangled to the point where it is very hard to decipher what the author's intentions are.

I guess these are the prices we have to pay to see the latest and greatest new Japanese products reviewed months before they hit the U.S. and other English-speaking reviewers.

We have changed servers, so the raw files are still available, but there are here.

Correct me if I"m wrong though, aren't the HMC150 raw files 18Mb/sec - not 25?

Hi Jon,

Perone is right about a Max of 24 and an average of 21 in the PH mode. This is where it gets really interesting. According to Sony, AVCHD at 9 mbps is roughly equal to HDV. That explains why the image from the HMC150 looks so good when comparing it to my Z1.
