Sample CX500V slow motion soccer clip

I have always filmed soccer from a tripod since I'm playing and not behind the camera. For fun, I took the CX500V to a game Sunday to try out the slow-motion 3 second capture mode. We had so many people that we formed three teams, which gave me the perfect opportunity to film a few segments. This clip is the result with 8-9 segments in the clip.

In this mode, the camcorder is constantly buffering at four times the normal frame rate so playback of a 3 second reality takes 12 seconds. You preset the cam to do one of two things when you hit Record. It will film the next three seconds after the button press, or take the buffered frames of the prior three seconds and save that. These segments were all done by watching, seeing something "worth filming", and then pressing Record to save the prior three seconds.

The resolution is stated to not be Full HD though the actual picture is still 1920 x 1080 as far as I can tell. This is presumably because the memory buffers are big enough to capture 3 seconds of extended frame rates at a reduced resolution but not at full resolution.

I was sitting about 10 yards back and above the field at about the 50 yard line. These are all handheld shooting pretty much towards the sun so my ability to frame and focus was limited by that. But they turned out pretty well, I think, all things considering. The ones with more zoom are clearer, of course.

Hi,
Nice shooting. Did you do anything in post to stabilize? If not pretty damned good for hand held.

Thanks. No post-processing at all except to combine the separate files into one clip and re-render (really smart rendering). The camcorder's stabilization is excellent, of course, and I've been using it since October so I've probably developed some feel for how much movement it tolerates. Quite a bit, really.
