1080p60 AVCHD?

When do you guys expect 1080p60 AVCHD in consumer cameras?
Remember, they say that 1080p60 would be a consumer exclusive format and they say it is not suitable for broadcast. So with that said, I don't think there would be any pro 1080p60 AVCHD cams if there is no broadcasting standard for mass production.

Feel free to move this to Area 51 if it's too farfetched.

considering the bacndwidth required, i dont blame them for not going for it..

hell the Euro standard is 720p... to be honest, i dont se 1080p taking off any time yet considering most display devices (consumer) do not support those kind of resolutions.. even though blue ray is capable of the bandwidth a 24p, i really dotn see 60 or 50p taking off.. even 720 50p exists (HD101) but still not used, and its far mroe streamlined than 1080...

who knows..

So all we can do is wait...

Oh well.

8-10 more years?

I'm thinking 2 years.

AVCHD and H264 are not very good for multigeneration or re-encoding. If you start re-encoding or start going multiple generations with AVCHD or H264 it dosn't look at all good. It was designed as a content delivery format, for which it is very good, it was never intended to be used as an aquisition codec. MPEG 2 is far more robust in this respect and thats part of the reason why it is still be tweaked and incorporated into new broadcast cameras.
