How to format drives for mac and pc
Hi guys,
Here's my question... I'm new to Avid and will be getting Xpress Pro and plan to install it on my Mac and PC. As far as I know this is possible and will just have to move the dongle back and forth. I want to capture all my footage to an external drive so that I can work on the same project on both computers. What is the best way to format the drive so it can be read on both computers? |
You need to use the NTFS format (you can use FAT32 but you will be limited to a 4GB max file size).
To read/write NTFS on a Mac you need a product like this: http://www.paragon-software.com/home/ntfs-mac/ |
John is right, NTFS will cut down on a ton of folders/partitions.
Another solution is MacDrive 7. http://www.mediafour.com/products/macdrive/ If you can afford a G-Tech G raid II, hardware raided drive for media, they come formattted for Mac and then you can use Mac Drive to use the G-Tech on your PC. www.videoguys.com sells them and they are a DVInfo.net supporter. Cheers. |
awesome thanks!
