The BEST horror flick for quite some time. Blood, guts and loads and loads of jumps!

Just shows what can be done with small budget and talented director who knows the genre. Sure there are some plot holes but you can easily overlook those because the film delivers the frights. On the big screen it was ace.

This movie rocks. Period. I prefer the original British ending over the American version, but I prefer darker endings anyway. It's funny that there's been such an upsurge in horror films lately, but still, very few of those films deliver the scares. This one does.

That's interesting, I didn't know there was an alternate ending for the US. I want to ask how the US version ends but don't want to ruin the film for those that MUST see it?

Can you give me a hint?

No where NEAR as good as the book, which it is based VERY loosely on.

You're right. There's no way to explain it without giving it away to anyone else. I tried to PM, but you don't accept emails. Shoot me an email at crowfeather at hotmail.com, and I'll tell you. Basically, the American version cuts way earlier than the British version.

without giving it away, does the UK ending ends with the scene at

a) the car
or
b) in the cave?

Robert Kirkpatrick December 29th, 2006 08:11 PM

For those wanting spoilers or to know the difference between UK and British:

Really, there's not much of a change, but what was changed *drastically* changed the tone. And in my opinion, the theme.

Yeah, I agree totally changes the tone. Too many so called horror films let the audience leave the cinema happy I'm glad The Descent (UK) didn't do so.
