It's £9,995 plus 20% vat

Only found out the price yesterday as I thought it was around £15,000 plus vat.

If you're registered for VAT you can claim this back. So you'd pay the 20% VAT when purchasing and then claim it back when making your next VAT return (which is commonly every 3 months). The £9,995 excludes the VAT.

Re: C300 Why so long to give it a street price?

There appears to be some disparity between the actual pricing ratio and exchange rate. For instance, take the ratio of the price of a USA 305 to a UK 305 and multiply by the UK price of a C300 and you come up with ca. 11,100. That would put it at a point that is competitive with both F3 and Scarlet in the USA market.

NB: I believe I used Jacobs and B&H for comparison, and I'm not familiar with UK vendors so I may have chosen an invalid one for comparison.

Re: C300 Why so long to give it a street price?

UK dealers would tend to be more expensive than US dealers, but not all of manufacturer's products in match up to each other in relative terms when comparing because some attract a premium in local markets. Jacobs price for a XF 305 camera is a few hundred pounds higher higher than Visual impact's after the VAT is added to their price, so the prices do vary quite a bit between dealers.

The C300 price quoted at Visual Impact is slightly less than their current F3 price, so I imagine the US price should be around the F3 price. I read the 12k Euro price quoted above at the time of the European launch, so that seems to be falling into place.

If only...:-) 12K Euros at current exchange rates is over £10000. It's also around $16000.

$5000.00 ..........................no, just kidding. I could guess, but, this being the internet, it will become fact, then my friends at Canon will no longer be my friends.

CVP in the UK, just lowered the price to $15,591. They are now taking orders for a fully refundable deposit of $600. So, looks like it's coming down indeed...

Are you going to pull the trigger on one of these Thierry? Looks like a good camera. I played with one at GV Expo and really liked how it felt in my hands.

I was at Gov Expo too and really liked it (hint...). If the actual sale price is indeed around the 15K mark, it will be quite successful. And I like the 1Dx very much too...

Cheers,
