Arrested Development - Greener (Music Video) Shot on 7D
Hey everybody! The video my team and I shot last month for Arrested Development went live today, and I figured I'd share the link. Check it out on Vimeo here:
Arrested Development - "Greener" on Vimeo The whole thing was shot on a Canon 7D with Canon glass. Enjoy! Jimmie |

fantastic video thanks for link. can u give us any idea on the canon lens you used. really good quality stuff. well done. |
Thanks Paul! The lenses used were the Canon L Series 16-35mm f/2.8 (non IS) and the Canon 50mm f/1.4.
Also, for reference, used a Sachtler FSB6 fluid head and carbon fiber tripod, a Small HD monitor, and a Glidecam HD-2000 for the stabilized shots. |
Loved it man. The simplicity + great photography is inspiring.

Jimmy-
Any advice for mounting to on the HD-2000? How did you monitor the steady shots? -C |
Fantastic stuff! How much grading was done?
|
Chris, I use the Manfrotto 577 guick release adapters/plates between the tripod and the Glidecam. Took a bit of trial and error to choose just the right center point with the right weights etc. at first, but once set up it only takes a minute to get perfect balance. The 2.5 - 3 second drop test is a great rule of thumb. I marked my presets on the vertical shaft and the quick release plate with a silver paint pen. This gets me almost perfectly in balance with my 16-35mm right off the bat, even when the unit's been broken down.
Monitoring was by sight on the 7D screen. Not ideal (particularly since I'm 6' and Speech is probably 5'4"), but do-able. Craig, we shot with flat in-camera settings (Neutral, contrast and sharpness all the way down, saturation -1). Contrast was added back in post, and quite a bit of grading occurred to make the greens "pop" even more (after all, it's called "Greener"). In some shots tones were shifted blue/green (interiors), and for the shots of the kids running, the shadows were brought up and pushed red, making it feel a bit like a 70s photo. Every shot was treated in Color to a degree. Troy Stains (the DP and colorist) has a great eye for such things. Thanks for the feedback guys! |
I kept waiting for Jason Bateman to show up. ;)
Anyway, nice video! |
Hehe, thanks John.
