Weird Noise coming from 7D

Well
Super 8 to Pd150 to Panasonic Dv100, through JVC Hd 100 and 200 and now I am looking at my new Canon 7D.

So first thing is , what the hell is the noise , I mean noise coming from the camera, like whiling but continues , and I hear it if I use the on board mic while filming, I got the stock canon lens. but when I swap it out for any of my nikons ,the sound goes. I have been looking here and hear some people talking about the automatic lens cleaning, making a noise, but this is continues, really not good. .....possibly back to B&H

thanks in advance

Is this the auto focus of the lens making noise? Try turning to manual to see if it goes away. Have you narrowed it down to that lens making the noise?

Noise in camera

yes Auto focus is off, And yes it comes on when I have 28-135 canon lens on.
With other lens no sound at all , also the sound only activates when I have it in video mode

I just got the camera 4 hours ago, ?

thanks

What else is in auto mode? Do you have manual shutter and ISO?

You may check this post. It may be related to the variable aperture lens. I only have constant aperture lenses, but I don't here any weird noises when shooting video.

The kit lens has variable aperture and it makes noise when zooming (even in manual mode) because the aperture changes. Try a fixed aperture lens and see if you still hear the noise.

OK sorry

So it was the stabilizer !
a whirling rotating sound.

I dont think I will be using that while shooting video

thanks again

Ahhhhhh. Well doye! I don't know why I forgot about that. I just looked over at my non IS lens.

Actually, my 17-55mm f/2.8 has IS but is very quiet. It actually helps out a lot handheld. The kit lens is kinda on the basic side of things.

i have the same problem, its like a whistling or sizzling sound of eggs and bacon cooking.....only in video mode, and it sucks, i took one unit back...why is it doing this?
