once you get the money you'll probably want the sigma. I've got both. When i'm taking stills I use the 50 more often but for video or indoors I go for the 30 more. Sigma comes with a hood, too..

Thanks, Ethan. I assume one advantage to the 50mm is it would have a bit less distortion on close-ups, and portraits than the 30mm does since you don't have to get as close to the subject to get a tight shot. You just need more room to work with.

Canon 50mm 1.8
You may consider this cheap lens if you still have problems between Sigma 30mm and Canon 50mm 1.4. The performance of this Canon 50mm 1.8 is just wonderful regarding its price.
