Why get the Nikon version of the Tokina and and not just get the Canon version?
Another vote for the SMC 1.4 50mm. Fast, cheap, and good, yeah, you get all three in this case.
If you liked the Canon 50mm 1.4 (which is one of my favs) you should try the Canon 28mm 1.8. I have a 24-70 2.8L which is a wonderful lens...just too darn heavy on the shoulder mount or Blackbird so I went to the local camera shop and they handed me the 28 1.8. It's about the same size and weight as the 50mm and has the same look to the image which was awesome. Best part is it's $450.

I wish the Tokina 11-16mm has IS, anybody uses this lens with Glidecam or any stabilizer ? is it good without IS ?
You don't need IS at 11mm or 16mm.
If you have a choice between EF-S 17-55mm f/2.8 IS and the Tokina 11-16mm, what would you take for shooting wide and also using it on stabilizer ?
I guess if IS is not important on stabilizers when shooting wide then Tokina 11-16mm has the upper edge . |
17mm is not that wide on crop camera so if you want wide and use it with stabilizer go with the Tokina.
Thanks Khoi, that makes sense, even better the Tokina almost half the price.
How about Canon's EF-S 10-22 for video? it's a popular lens for still photography but how is it for video?
You need both.
The tokina 11-17 and the 17-55mm w/ IS. All your lens' should have IS if it's available. I live on my 17-55 doing weddings, events, etc. It's the best lens I wish it went to 70mm thou. If canon releases the 24-70mm with IS I will be first in line. |
