Follow focus ring on Canon 50mm f1.8

Has any one any tricks to keeping follow focus gear to stay on the front focus ring? my D/focus ring gear will just not stick to the beveled focus ring.
Any tips or tricks?

Thanks in Advance.

The 1.8 is a great lens, as the glass is sharp as a tack, and low light is clean, but the major problem with the 50mm 1.8 as the focus ring, as it's cheaply made and horrible.

If I had to do it over again, I would go for the bestter built 85mm 1.4 Canon.

But it you must use a follow focus with the 50mm 1.8, then try placing a rubber band around the focus ring. While it won't win any beauty contests, it works pretty well. Not perfect, but ti works.

Clayton thanks for the additional info.
I was wondering about the snap on gears from Indisystem. How do they work, are they secure.

And are there different sizes available for different lens sizes, or are they adjustable somehow?

And according to their site for an extra $50 bucks you get a follow focus. (their mini system comes wit a set of snap rings). very interesting
might be worth getting another follow focus.

I've got the snapgears and yes, they will work on the nifty-fity. Not quite as well as on normal focus rings, but it will stay on.

Bryan what circumstance are you using for your 50mm?
