Nikon lenses on Canon camera
I once heard about an adapter to use Nikon lenses on Canon camera's. Are there adapters available for using new Nikon AF lensen and older Nikon lenses on Canon, without loosing functions like light metering and autofocus?

What Perrone said. $11 Kawa adapters for me as well. Have about.. 10-15 Nikkor AI era lenses that I use. Love em.

New Nikon AF wont work at all. As 'G' series lenses don't have an aperture ring.
You need older 'D' or manual 'AI' lenses. Also, beware some of the adapters do not work properly with metering and Nikon lenses can be a bit of a fiddle on a Canon - I say that as a lifelong Nikon shooter... |
Ditto. Love the ability to slap on the Nikon lenses. In addition, I am using an adapter for some vintage Pentax k mount lenses. In fact, I have a Takumar 28mm to 80mm with macro that is a great walk around lens.

I use pre-AI Nikkors with the cheap Kawa adapters and they work great. You have metering. No auto focus but you can't use auto focus anyway when shooting video. The lenses are super sharp and have a very nice contrast and color. Another nice thing about the Nikkors is that, since they have a real aperture ring, you can send them to Duclos -- http://www.ducloslenses.com/Duclos_Lenses/Main.html -- for modification to take the hard stops out. Then they work like cine lenses.
I'm using a 24, 35, 105. I have a 135 and 200 that I haven't used because for the longer ranges I generally use my L 70-200. It intercuts fine with the Nikkors, though they are sharper. I also have a Zeiss ZE f1.4 50mm. |
i had one of the cheaper adapters, i think Kawa and just got a fotodiox pro and there is a world of difference..
I think the thing with Kawa and the like is they may start out with a reasonably good fit but with time theyll get looser and looser due to the cheaper metal, not sure if others have experienced the same? About the Nikon G lenses, there are adapters for these also but not sure how good they are. |
