T2I footage on (30 ft X 70 ft) Screen
 

Can someone please summarise what is required(no luxury) to see T2I movie on 30ft X 70ft Screen with optimal quality ofcourse as less $'s as possible :)

Lens : I have 50mm/1.8 ,tokina 11-16 ,sigma 30mm

Support Gear : Rails,FF,external monitor,filters
Light : ?
Audio Equipment : AT897,H4n
Post production Software : Vegas 10,pro tools
(no special effects)

please let me know any of above not usefull for big screen

Technically those tools can get you there. considering the biggest part of the equation is there.. talent.

Although I used a 7D for this, i believe its similar to t2i in video image quality and sensor size, though its projected only on a 38.5 x 18 feet screen (11.7 x 5.5 m). Smaller that what your projecting in on.


Mostly using the tokina 11-16 on the wides, also other nikon lenses, 50 f1.4, 80-200 f2.8 and a mamiya mid format 80mmf1.9.

I just did the preview at the digital cinema yesterday, and the footage projected really,amazingly, well.

Thanks for the reply's.Great footage,Now I feel more comfortable..Ted Can you please name the accessories you did use..what is the ISO threshold in lowlight,keeping the screen size in mind.

Keep the ISO's below 800 if you can. I have used 1600 or even higher in that scene in the cave, its tricky.

But I'm glad it was acceptable.

But the most important on cam accessory you should have on set if I have to name the most important is a high res monitor, you must hook up via hdmi, NOT the usb rca cable.
Look at the BTS video, I use it in all the scenes except underwater.

I have an LCD finder, its not enough. I'm past forty, I have poor eyesight and wear contacts.

The monitor will save most of your footage. I had an SD 7 inch lcd before, it was not enough. It wont show you proper focus especially with your 50mm lens.

So please invest in one. Good luck.

While i have my own friction follow focus, the scenes I shot did not involve a rack so I did not use it.

I also used my own mattebox to control flare and hold my filters, which by the way you should also have a couple. ND grads and NDs. Polarizers could also come in handy.

as for the monitor, its great for getting your shots in focus, batteries go a long way.

Just want to add i used the new version mattebox with rotating filter holder.
