Total Noob asking totally nooby questions

I just decided to buy this camera and I have some very basic questions here:

What class SD card should I get? And what brands are best? And SDHC or SDXC?

How long does the stock battery shoot for?

Is it true it over heats after a few hours of video use?

What format does the camera shoot on?

What processor speed is best equipped for it? (I have a 2.4 quad core intel)

Thank you!

All these answers are easily found on this forum or on google if you can be bothered to look.

Here's a few quick answers to get you started, but I'd advise you to search more thoroughly here and on google.

Class 6 minimum. Stick to well known brands like SanDisk, Transcend etc.

About 1.5 hours.

Yes.

h.264.

A fast core i7 with lots of RAM.

I use transcend class 10's. The price from B&H is unbeatable....

also, I've shot full wedding days with this camera and haven't had it overheat yet... I speculate it to two reasons (possibly). One I live in the northeast and it's been cold up here...
Second, the most logical is I shot with my brightness on the LCD turned pretty much all the way down.
If someone wants to clarify for me, please feel free...

Overall great camera, I like it!

Eduardo, what camera are we talking about? You don't mention any particular camera and this forum is dedicated to 3 cameras; the T2i (550D), the T3i (600D) and the 60D. Most of the answers are the same but some are not, particularly the battery life and overheating.

The battery on the T2i lasts 1 hour 40 minutes according to the manual while the 60D battery lasts 2 hours in video mode. I'm not sure about the T3i but it uses the same battery as the T2i so I would assume it would be a similar duration. Also the 60D has been reported to be less likely to overheat than the T2i. Again I'm not sure about the T3i.

As for the other questions it's the same for all cameras. Class 6 is the minimum recommended by Canon, they shoot in H.264 at 45 Mb/s. As for you processor that also depends on what editing program you use.
