I have been using the indislider mini from indisystem. Pretty good product, and I really like it. The mini however is very short. So if you need more than 24 inches, then get the regular indislider. It is durable and can be mounted on a tripod. Also, it is cheap as it only cost $99. So check them out if you get a chance. I also own there indisystem ultracompact. Good product as well, very customizable!!

The sliders based on the Igus track that just have friction bearings (all the cheap ones) stick & judder every so often & usually at the most frustrating times. The GlideTrack Hybrid uses the same track but uses roller bearings so is very much smoother. The Konova slider is a totally different design that works well & is good value at $329 including delivery 50KG Tele lens Camera Camcord slider dolly track 5d2 7d

I thought Konova used roller bearings too.

It does have roller bearings but it doesn't use the Igus track like most of the other cheap sliders. For what it's worth they claim that their 'main body' is made in the Samsung factory. I just bought one & think that it works well & is good value. A nice surprise is that it arrived nicely packed up in its own black canvas bag with orange edging so it looks pretty cool:-)

None of those links worked for me. But if you are looking at the non-roller type, I second the reference for Westside AV. Call them and Olof will help you figure out what to get. If you need customization or a head, he does that too. Also, Westside is in New Hampshire.... just down the road from you... kinda. :-)

That has not been my experience. I just wipe it with a micro-fiber cloth before I use it.

And it certainly isn't cheap... in build or price.

Compared to the Philip Bloom Signature Series Pocket Dolly™ all the Igus-based sliders are cheap:-)

Not everyone has a taste for the Philip Bloom Kool--Aid :)

And, anyway... wasn't Philip Bloom using an Igus-based slider when he made sliders famous shooting from the doorway/porch at Lucas Ranch?

I have a T2i, GH2 and Sony EX1-R and the Konova is a great 'budget' portable slider for all of these camera's. I have done a few video's on this slider- they may help you decide:

There's another shop right there in Toronto that you didn't mention.
Camera Sliders Hague
I don't know about the quality, I don't have a slider yet but like you I've been shopping around.
Good luck!

ps. When you get one, post here which one you got and tell us whether you recommend it or not.
