Magic Lantern download for 3ti/600D
Hi there,
I've staggered around the Magic Lantern site and I simply can't find a link where I can download the software for the Canon 3ti/600D which I believe is available. I must be crazy, but I just can't find a link. Have Googled etc. Can anyone help? Best Harry The Idiot. |

Re: Magic Lantern download for 3ti/600D
Is there a Tutorial for using the magic lantern for the T3i?
How important is it to have Magic Lantern on T3i if I am using it strictly for video purposes |
Re: Magic Lantern download for 3ti/600D
ml provides many features for video on the t3i.
one of the most useful is it resumes recording at the 12 minute mark, there is a gap of 1-1.5 seconds but it is much better than manually pressing record. also is a shortcut to get the 3x zoom, this may not be implemented on the latest release, it was in a previous beta. manual white balance is very useful especially when matching to other cameras. shortcuts to native iso zebras, focus assist, and display info on the lcd screen many more features, load ml and find the ones that work best for you. if you do not want to use ml just place a card in the camera that does not have ml and you are back to the standard options. |
Re: Magic Lantern download for 3ti/600D
Can anyone please tell me what the advantage is to accessing "native ISO"? I thought that ISO was like ASA for film - a sensitivity setting.
What's the difference if I am able to set my 3ti in increments of 160 as opposed to 100s? Go easy on me. I'm just a poor schnook. Harry The Idiot. |
Re: Magic Lantern download for 3ti/600D
iso that are not native are created electronically and introduce more noise. further info here:

Re: Magic Lantern download for 3ti/600D
While this may appear to be useful information if you are considering filming a black cat in a cellar at midnight I am very dubious about the validity this 'proof' provided by recording with the lens cap on. Most important is to get the exposure correct & using e.g. ISO 160 instead of ISO 100 because it is notionally less noisy actually exposes you to the danger of overexposing the image.

Re: Magic Lantern download for 3ti/600D
BTW the 600D/T3i just like all the other Canon DSLRs does have manual white balance (take a photo of a grey/white card). What it lacks without Magic Lantern is the ability to dial in a specific value in degrees Kelvin.
