Will buy a new camera

Hi everyone,

Now I can't make up my mind which camera to get. So far I only have canon lens. I have looked at the canon 80d, gh4, and a6300. I just can't make up my mind which one to get. The difference between the camera is 4K. So any advice on This one guys.

If you have Canon glass I would stay with them. I don't think the 80d is worth the extra $500. I'd get the 70d. I'm not a fan of 4k either. I only buy things on needs that either make me more money or make my life easier.

I agree that the new features on the 80D aren't really worth paying extra. I do absolutely love the touch screen autofocusing and would immediately buy a 4K capable 70D with good (or decent) low light ability.

You probably have several years before 4K becomes even close to required, so one question is how long does this new camera have to be useful? Even now its useful for stationary, unmanned cameras so you can digitally crop in post.

I have a 70D and am seriously considering an 80D.

Low light improvements. Other small improvements here and there.

Most importantly, a headphone output. If you're recording dialog on the camera, this is a pretty big deal. If you're recording audio separately it matters not at all.

Lest someone pop in to say "you can't get good dialog on a dSLR", I say "oh yes I can...!" Of course that's with a Sound Devices MixPre-D feeding it. A headphone output on the 80D would feed the return on the mixer, allowing immediate return confidence monitoring and playbacks.

Like Robert said above, the 70D or 80D touch-screen face-detection autofocus is spectacular, for the first time, ever, AF is actually useful for pro work, in my not so humble opinion.

Low light comparison video for 70D v 80D. Not an earth shattering improvement, but slightly better.

80D also does 60fps at 1080.
