Long exposure... uh?
 

I need to take HDRI photos for a VFX test... I thought i'd use the same camera i was shooting on... BUT

How do i take a long exposure shot? I swear i looked threw the entire manual and couldn't find anything. I also spent some quite time and went threw the entire camera and still couldnt figure it out. I turned, switched and pushed everything and given up! Blah, I feel stupid!

NOTE: I only have nikon lens with the novoflex adapter and the lastest film update.

Is it cause of the nikons i cant take long exposure shots? Does exposure compensation in the menu have anything to do with it? Im i suppose to be still in "M" for long exposure shots? How do i make this happen?

Page 99 -- Bulb Exposures

Set the program mode dial to "B" and set your
desired Aperture value. The shutter stays open
for as long as the release button is depressed.

Really helps if you have a remote (wired or wireless) and a tripod.

Damn u know what i jst figured out... YOu can still do it in "M" mode. I alwasy had the camera on LIVE VIEW MODE. Why i wasnt getting anywhere when i was turning the dial. If its turned off u can then set the shutter even lower then 1/30 for long exposure shots.

I think you have to turn off movie mode, putting in stills only mode, to set the longer exposures. ...

If you are using canon lenses, you can use shutter priority mode... dial in the shutter speed you want and it will set your aperture to get a good exposure.

Keep in mind that the exif exposure data will be rounded off to the next highest whole second in bulb mode, so all shots under one second will read as 1" in the exif.
