is CTA battery safe?

Hello.

I bought this CTA replacement battery for Canon 5D that B&H is selling. I tried to use it a few times but the weir screen jump the can't communicate sign and the very, very short duration in making me doubt and worry.

Does anyone have some experience? is there something i need to do to use this bat? is it safe?

Thanks a lot.
Osmany

Non Canon batteries will show a screen which requires you to okay the use of the battery. These batteries don't have memory chips on board, and won't give information to the camera about levels status. I have 5 the I use to supplement my Canon battery. They work fine.

I bought two of these batteries and they are safe to use but I would not recommend them. I had one die after only using it once but it was too late to send it back to B&H. I did not realize it was dead until I went to use it the second time and it didn't last long. It then wouldn't recharge properly and stopped working completely. Now that Canon batteries are available, I would avoid the off-brand models since there is essentially no recourse if one is bad. Oh, I posted a fair but negative review and they didn't put it up so I now suspect their customer review system.

We have a few of these and they've worked just fine. They have lasted just as long, if not longer, than my Canon batteries per charge.

I would buy Canon batteries from now on though since they've gotten a bit cheaper and easily available.
