Matching two cams
 

We recently shot a music video with two DSLRs. A Canon 5D Mark II and a Canon 70D. The problem is that the 70D footage looks a lot darker than the 5D. We were in a white room so it could have been worse. Anyone know a work around to brighten the 70D footage so it matches the 5D footage??

Your video editing software should include color correction features. Depending on the software, you can apply the adjustments per clip and/or per track. It's probably easiest if you group the 5D and 70D video on different tracks and make the camera matching adjustments there. After you control the brightness, you can also adjust colors and sharpness to get things to match nicely.

In future think about John Hopes cine form c or n or neutral with contrast all down sharp all down and sats down two three, put the two different cams in that setting and the footage looks perfect and good skin tones to. Be aware though because of the full frame and crop cameras your 70d will look darker so adjust the aperture slightly lighter one notch up as the 70d is darker footage. steve
