rewinding

When tape is run to end it sometimes won't rewind, instead we get an eject tape message. Sometimes removing tape and reinserting it works, but not always. Then we have to rewind in another camcorder. Any thoughts or suggestions appreciated. Mator

dead/hot pixcel

How can I test in a shop if the camcorder I want to buy is free from dead/hot pixcels on the CCD, LCD screen and the EVF??

Point the camera at a flat colored surface (not strictly black or white) and inspect the vf and lcd images to see if a pixel appears odd-colored. Dead is often red on lcd's, and the vf is also a lcd-type display. Then shoot 10 secs or so of footage at the same target and playback on a full-frame pro monitor or computer to check for odd pixels.

Testing:

Put the cap on the camera. Gain up to 18db. Set shutter speed to 1/8th a second.

Viewing:

Set monitor brightness to full bright so the blacks levels are washed. This way you see the full extent of the image.

If your using the LCD 2.5 screen Turn the brightness setting to full. Clear all data on screen.

GL2 At Islands Of Adventure

Went to Universal Studios theme park a few days before Christmas. I am downloading some stills now but the web page is up. You can check out the frame mode stills at

http://homepage.mac.com/bhardy3/PhotoAlbum33.html

Enjoy, more stills to come. It was raining on and off so I did not make a lot of adjustments, plus my party was always moving.

Recommended back pack for GL2?

I want to use my GL2 on the ski slopes and out x-country skiing and biking. What would you people recommend as a backpack that would withstand a fall! I also plan to pack a tripod because all my shooting will be for the web and I must have a relatively still background to get the best compression.

I would recommend a LowePro DryZone 200. Its fairly water tight, and has a spot to stick your tripod.
You can get some more info on the bag u can check it out at: http://www.lowepro.com/pages/series/dryzone/dzone.htm
