John,

So you decided to go with th gl2! you will not be dissapointed with the image quality you are capable of getting. I must say that, it will take bit of practice!!!
study the manual!!!
expiriment, shoot, keep notes (narate what you did) then view
play around with the custom presets and see what they do for you !!!
shoot in manual, see what you can do for depth of field effects: open aperature
+faster speeds for shallow depth of field, add nd and polizer for slower shutter with shallow depth of field. Other direction for more depth.

try interlaced and frame, see which you prefer. For most wildlife I shoot frame. also for uwol frame is easier to convert to quick time (for me at least, as it cuts out deinterlacing).

I totally recomend not using the camera in vcr mode and running the tape back and forth!!! the only time my camera failed me was doing that which gave the infamous remove cassette error, totally my fault as I had been warned!!!!

have fun and shoot lots.

look forward to seeing some shots

And keep reading on this forum. I'm sure I'd have got a lot more out of my XM2 if I'd known about this place back then!

Dead right! I wish I'd read more instead of just looking puzzled at stuff I didn't understand.
