That's what the warranty is for: if something's not right Canon fixes it for you. I know a couple professional wedding videographers who shoot on an average about 12 hours each weekend with their GL2 cams. Their GL2s are holding up just fine.

I think the best competitor to the DVX is the JVC HD cams....based on image quality anyway (along with the XL1S)
