Can't see LCD Screen in bright sunlight

Gents:

Please, I need your help in order to solve this problem.

My eyesight is not the best and also the quality of what I see through the viewfinder lacks.

So, I rely just about 100% on the LCD screen to set-up and position each shot and to adjust the light to where it should be.

My problem is that in bright sunlight I’m kind of guessing where the light level should be adjusted to because I can not hardly see the picture at all displayed from the LCD screen.
That naturally causes shots to be too bright or too dark.

How do you all work around this.

Any homemade solutions or low cost commerical ones?

Thanks so much.

Hi Bruce,

Do a search for "LCD Hoods". Some folks buy them, some of us make our own, for next to nothing. Easy to do DIY. If you DIY, then you can make it as long as you need/want. The pre-mades are one length only. I've been making them for years for my cams, and for friends.

Apparently from the lack of response this particular forum must be about dead.

I was hoping to hear from someone who bought one commerically and would pass on the manufacturer and the model #.

I have to get one mail order as none are available locally and want to buy the right one that fits the first time.

Searched "LCD hoods" and there's not much out there for the GL-2.

Any specific recommendations would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you.

Please, IF there are absolutely no other options, how do I make one?

What materials are used?

A plan would be appreciated too.

Thanks,
Bruce

Cardboard and tape. Really.

-Cut a strip of heavier cardboard as "long" as you want it (the width of your lcd screen)
-The length you want is the the top "hangover" + the length of the LCD screen + the bottom "hangover" (where the "hangovers are what provides the shielding from the sun)
-Fold your cardboard to fit over the screen
-LOOSELY tape the open end of the shield so that you can measure for a side screen (the side AWAY from your camera
-cut a piece of cardboard to fit the "open" end and tape in place
