Any time you are recording, time code is being recorded on the tape. I don't know of anyway to record that info so it's actually displayed in frame.

In the past, I have played back GL2 tapes through a DSR 45 deck that has a time code output, sent that to a Fast Forward Time Code decoder/encoder and dubbed to the result to VHS. You end up with the Video in background with time code (HH:MM:SS:FF) overlayed on the top.

Works well for providing raw to clients to pick shots from. Not easy but the only way I could figure out to do it.

If the GL2 is similar to the GL1, you can have the timecode (and other data) appear in the analog output during playback in VCR mode. Check the Manual for details on how to set this up on the GL2. As I recall, with the GL1 you press the "TV Screen" button on the remote.

You can output multiple combinations of time, date and exposure info BUT, it's not "Time Code" down to the frame. Guess it depends on what you are using it for.
